Senior Financial Controller (Remote)
BrighterMonday Consulting
Job Description
Do you enjoy building automated systems, designing predictive models, and acting as a strategic advisor to leadership teams? If so, this opportunity could be the right fit for you.
An ambitious and fast-growing manufacturing business is on a path to triple its revenue over the next three years. To support this growth, the organization is building a scalable, automated financial infrastructure capable of handling increased manufacturing complexity, international packaging compliance requirements, and subsidiary integration without a corresponding increase in administrative workload.
As the Senior Financial Controller, you will own the forward-looking financial agenda. While the Finance Manager oversees historical accounting and day-to-day financial operations, your focus will be on planning, forecasting, financial systems, strategic decision-making, and process automation. This role is ideal for a systems builder who enjoys creating efficient financial frameworks and mentoring finance professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning, Forecasting & Systems Development (40%)
- Design and automate financial forecasting, budgeting, scenario planning, and liquidity management processes.
- Develop scalable financial frameworks to support inventory management, stock-keeping, and manufacturing operations.
- Build and enhance financial systems that improve efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making.
Compliance & Strategic Projects (25%)
- Lead major compliance and regulatory initiatives from design through implementation.
- Establish automated reporting frameworks for packaging and sustainability-related regulations, including extended producer responsibility reporting, cost management structures, and recyclability tracking.
- Ensure compliance projects are delivered accurately and within required timelines.
Strategic Business Partnering (25%)
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to senior leadership.
- Translate complex financial information into practical, data-driven recommendations.
- Support strategic planning, investment decisions, growth initiatives, and risk management.
Mentorship & Leadership (10%)
- Provide coaching and guidance to the Finance Manager, supporting their professional growth and strategic development.
- Foster a collaborative finance function through influence and mentorship rather than direct operational management.
- Promote best practices and continuous improvement across financial processes.
Candidate Profile
You Are a Systems Builder
- You naturally seek automation opportunities and enjoy creating scalable solutions.
- You prefer designing efficient systems rather than relying on manual processes and spreadsheet-heavy workflows.
You Are Highly Analytical
- You focus on root-cause analysis rather than symptoms.
- You make recommendations based on facts, data, and thorough preparation.
You Think Ahead
- You proactively identify risks, opportunities, and future financial implications.
- You enjoy scenario planning and helping organizations prepare for growth and change.
You Are a Mentor
- You gain satisfaction from helping colleagues develop professionally.
- You know how to provide guidance while empowering others to take ownership of their responsibilities.
You Are Collaborative
- You work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- You can confidently challenge assumptions and decisions when supported by data while maintaining a constructive and professional approach.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience across cost accounting, financial controlling, and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A).
- At least 3 years of experience in a Financial Controller or Finance Manager capacity with strategic finance responsibilities.
- Demonstrated success in designing and implementing automated financial systems and reporting frameworks.
- Experience leading complex compliance, regulatory, or reporting projects with strict deadlines.
- Strong background in manufacturing finance, including cost accounting, inventory management, stock valuation, and subsidiary integration.
- Proven experience advising senior executives and supporting strategic decision-making.
- Track record of mentoring and developing finance professionals.
- Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
What Is Offered
- Full-time remote position (39 hours per week).
- Working schedule aligned to GMT+1 time zone (or within a maximum two-hour difference).
- Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.
- Six weeks of paid annual leave.
- Paid sick leave.
- Generous parental leave provisions.
- Overtime is generally not expected; however, any approved overtime will be compensated.
