Senior Project Associate-Health (EPHI)-Affiliated Contractor-Addis Ababa-Required 1 position

It saves lives and protects people on the move, drives solutions to displacement, and facilitates pathways for regular migration, while providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Ethiopia has one of the most complex human mobility environments in the world, with factors ranging from conflict, drought, environmental degradation, damage to basic services and infrastructure, to changing livelihood strategies in an evolving political and economic milieu where poverty, and progressive depletion of coping mechanisms available to the displaced and host communities exist in large portions of the country, often leading to more displacements. Health, Nutrition and MHPSS program in Ethiopia supports the vulnerable populations to cope with these situations by providing essential health and MHPSS services including medical consultations, nutrition, maternal and child health, health promotion and referrals to tertiary health facilities. The program has over 25 health facilities supported in Tigray, Amhara, South Ethiopia, Oromia, Dire Dawa, Benshangul Gumuz, and Somali regions working collaboratively with the Ethiopian Public Health Institute. These activities are integrated with MHPSS program to ensure wholistic approach to patient care. In addition, it supports the governments through health system strengthening activities.

This is the position be required to support IOM Health and MHPSS Team towards the successful implementation of IOM Health, & MHPSS related projects in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. In addition, support the deputy director office at the EPHI.

Under the overall supervision of the Programme Officer-Emergency Health and MHPSS, and the direct supervision Senior Project Associate, Health, Addis Ababa, the incumbent will be responsible for the supporting program activities in Addis Ababa.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

• University Degree with at least four years of relevant working experience.
• Secondary School Diploma with at least six years of relevant working experience.

Experience

• Experience working with Ethiopian Public Health institute
• Experience in managing large dynamic teams, with a customer service, IT or administrative background;
• Knowledge of data management principles;
• Certificate in IT/Data entry is an advantage;
• Knowledge of customer care;
• High computer literacy in Windows and MS Office is mandatory, knowledge of web page design would be an asset;
• In-depth use of MS office applications, data collection and manipulation;
• Knowledge of medical terminology, as well as previous secretarial and archival experience, an added advantage; and,
• Previous working experience with NGOs or international organizations is an added advantage.

Skills

• At least an intermediate level of MS office skills;
• Effective managerial and leadership skills in the provision of data entry and customer care;
• Analytical skills;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Fast and accurate typing.

Languages

REQUIRED

External applicants for all positions in the Professional category are required to be proficient in English and have at least a working knowledge of one additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish). For all applicants, fluency in English & Amharic (oral and written) is required.

DESIRABLE

Other Ethiopian languages incl. Afaan Oromoo and Tigrigna.
