Job Description
KMA is hiring Search and Rescue Officers to support the development, review, and implementation of the national search and rescue plan for both coastal and inland waters. This includes assisting with public awareness campaigns, managing the Kenya Ship Reporting System, maintaining the emergency beacon database, and aiding in the implementation of regional SAR agreements. SEARCH AND RESCUE OFFICER

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the Development of the national search and rescue plan for coastal and inland waterways
- Assist in the Review and update of the national search and rescue plan for coastal and inland waters
- Assist in the Implementation of the national search and rescue plan for coastal and inland waters
- Assist in the Conducting public awareness campaigns on maritime search and rescue.
- Assist in the Implementation of International Conventions and instruments relating to maritime search and rescue
- Assist in managing the Kenya Ship Reporting System in order to keep track of vessels around the coast and within the EEZ to call upon for support during SAR operations;
- Assist in the management of emergency beacons e.g., EPIRBs database and is responsible for keeping it up-to-date and accessible on 24-hour basis
- Assist in the Implementation of the requirements of regional SAR agreements with neighbouring States
