Job Description

The Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) is a public utility entity created in 1973 by the Government of the Republic of Liberia through an act of Legislature with a mandate to produce and supply economic and reliable electric power to the entire nation, while at the same time maintaining the corporation financial viability.

LEC's operational effectiveness relies on secure, reliable, and wide-reaching network connectivity across offices, data centers, operational sites, and field locations. The enterprise network supports critical business systems, communications, and utility operations. The Network Technician provides hands-on technical and field-level support for LEC's network infrastructure. The role focuses on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of network links across operational sites.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction (supervision) of the Network Administrator (or his/her designate)

Installation & Field Operations: Install and commission network equipment, cabling, and connectivity links; support network expansion and site rollouts; perform field inspections and corrective maintenance
Fault Detection & Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve network faults at site level; perform basic configuration and equipment replacement; escalate complex issues to the Network Administrator.
Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine checks on network equipment and links; assist with patching, upgrades, and equipment lifecycle tasks.
Documentation & Reporting: Record faults, repairs, and field activities; update asset and site connectivity records.

KEY DELIVERABLES / PERFORMANCE OUTPUTS
The Network Technician is accountable for delivering:

Operational network links and equipment
Timely resolution of site-level faults
Accurate field activity and fault reports.

KEY INTERFACES
The Network Technician works closely with:

Network Administrator
Network Officer
End users, Operations and Field Teams
IT Security and Governance units

DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY
The Network Technician is authorized to:

Perform approved field-level fixes and installations
Recommend escalation for unresolved issues

EDUCATION:
Minimum Education Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in IT, Networking, or Telecommunications

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 2–4 years technical or field network experience. Entry-level networking certification is advantageous (e.g., CCNA – advantage)

REQUIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

Strong hands-on networking and cabling skills :
Troubleshooting and fault isolation
Field coordination and teamwork
Technical discipline and safety awareness
Technical report writing
High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
