Key Responsibilities

• Direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or group of patients
• Caring for the patient, her possessions, documentation and control of stock and equipment

Responsibilities

• Maintain a therapeutic, clean and safe environment
• Adhere to waste management principles
• Maintain a safe working environment
• Report potential/actual risks
• Ensure correct use, cleaning and storage of equipment
• Maintain patient confidentiality

Patient care

• Practice patient care according to Scope of Practice
• Monitor vital signs of patients
• Execute procedures according to hospital standards
• Perform departmental duties as assigned
• Practice infection prevention principles
• Promote good public relations
• Attend handover of report
• Refer queries to the sister-in-charge

Skills Profile

Education

Essential

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as an Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary
• Compliance with the SANC Scope of Practice and applicable Health Care Legislations

Preferred

• A grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification

Work Experience

Preferred

• Relevant experience in the nursing discipline
