Job Description

Job Purpose

Ensuring a safe and healthy working environment that complies with current health and safety legislation for all BWE employees

Key Outputs

  • Establish and maintain a strong SHE culture in the organization.
  • Work in liaison with host company to ensure compliance in matters related to SHEQ requirements
  • Audit, monitor and measure the effectiveness of SHE programmes and adjust and improve continuously.
  • Advise and assist with the implementation of new or existing SHEQ-related legislation, rules and Company standards including, but not limited to, fire prevention, health and safety awareness training and site inspections.
  • Manage SHEQ audit procedures, ensure audits are conducted on a regular basis and ensure records maintained of same.
  • Provide support and expertise to line management in incident investigation and reporting (including dangerous occurrences and occupational diseases).
  • SHEQ training of staff - develop a SHEQ Communication Strategy for all levels of staff, to include written information, toolbox talks and management briefs.

  • Ensure Safety Induction Program for new employees and visitors
  • Advising and collaborating with management to resolve occupational health issues
  • Create and execute studies to monitor and assess employee’s exposure to health risks and to measure the effectiveness of occupational health programs, policies and procedure
  • Proposing and leading the implementation of programs to protect employee’s health, and implementing ergonomics
  • Maintaining current knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation
  • Ensuring employee awareness of occupational health and safety concerns, programs, and regulations by conducting training presentations.

Candidate Requirements

  • A grade 12 Full Certificate with good grades
  • A University degree in Occupational Safety, Health & Environment
  • A minimum of 3 years Industry experience in Safety, Health, Environment & Quality
  • NEBOSH in Occupational Health & Safety
  • OSHA Regulatory Knowledge experience
  • Contractor Management experience & exposure
  • Budgeting & Finance acumen
  • Mining Environment exposure
  • Quality Management Systems / ISO standard certification knowledge
  • Valid manual driver’s license
  • Membership in ZOSHA

Skills

  • Excellent report writing skills, business and financial acumen, communication skills, presentation and facilitation skills. Influential Skills.
