Supervises and coordinates the receipt of fresh fish from harvest teams, ensuring that the right quantity of ice is topped up on the fish bins as per SOP. Continuously communicates with Lake Operations team on logistics of harvest trailers carrying fish received and sent to the habour. Ensures proper handling of the bins to minimise damage to bins, floors and walls of the processing plant. Verifies harvest quantities recorded against actual stock received on power BI/other reporting tools. Oversees offloading of fish bins to product spillage and ensure compliance with food safety standards. Tracks daily volumes of fish received. Identifies opportunities to improve processes, reduce losses, and optimise resource use. Ensures the right packaging material is available to meet the daily dispatch requirements. Ensures fish are packed promptly and efficiently according to product specifications, customer orders, and quality standards. Monitors packing team performance to maintain production targets and minimise waste. Ensure packing is done with care to prevent damage to crates and scales. Ensures all packing materials (crates, wrappers, labels etc) are available at all times of operations. Works closely with QC team to enforce hygiene, product integrity, and temperature compliance. Coordinates timely dispatch of packed fish to commercial distribution centres, ensuring that the refrigeration systems on the trucks are working properly before dispatch. Verifies order accuracy before dispatch to ensure correct product type, quantity, and packaging. Ensures all crate seals are correctly captured and recorded. Liaise with distribution teams to ensure delivery trucks are in good operational condition before dispatch. Maintains detailed records of all dispatches for traceability and reporting. Ensures compliance with all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and Yalelo’s Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) standards. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of workplace health and safety matters relevant to operations, ensuring hazards are identified, eliminated, or minimised, and risks controlled as far as reasonably practicable. Ensures all plant, equipment, substances, and structures are safe for use, and that workers are adequately trained and supervised to mitigate workplace risks. Responsible for the performance of receiving attendants, packers, internal logistics and dispatch team. Responsible for managing staff reporting time, lunch break and knocking off time effectively for it to not negatively impact the efficiency of harvest operations. Manages daily individual performance in relation to material usage, efficiency, and accuracy of data capture for stock dispatches. Ensures all direct reports have up to date, signed job descriptions. Develops SOPs, trains the teams (Receiving, Packing and Fresh Dispatch) and keeps them updated. Conducts regular team meetings to review performance, address improvement areas, and align on future targets. Sets performance objectives and carries out routine reviews in line with company performance management guidelines. Works with HR to identify skills gaps and implement appropriate training and development interventions. Oversees effective attendance management, leave planning, and disciplinary processes. Ensures 100% compliance with PPE requirements across all teams. Leads process efficiency improvements and optimisation initiatives. Oversees quarterly policy and SOP training sessions, ensuring proper documentation of all sessions. Manages manpower effectively, keeping overtime costs below 2%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Production Management, Food Science, Warehousing, or related field.
  • Full Grade 12 Certificate.
  • All academic qualifications must be certified by ZAQA.
  • Must be a member of the relevant professional body.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in fish or food processing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, ISO standards, cold chain management, and food safety regulations.
  • Experience managing teams in a high-volume production or logistics environment.
