About the Role

The Project Support and M&E Officer is a dual-function role responsible for coordinating project implementation and managing monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) activities across Impact Gateway Africa’s portfolio This role is central to ensuring projects are delivered on time, to scope, and with measurable impact

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating detailed project implementation plans, schedules, and all required project documents
  • Support and coordinate the SlovakAid project and other donor-funded initiatives
  • Work closely with the Managing Partner and team to ensure smooth project implementation
  • Support the project lead in designated aspects of project delivery and workplan execution
  • Assist in managing risks, contingencies, and mitigation measures throughout the project lifecycle
  • Track project action items and follow up on all internal and external deliverables
  • Collaborate with the communications lead to ensure projects receive required visibility and generate content for public reporting
  • Assist in generating all required project reports in accordance with required reporting periods and formats
  • Manage the business incubator/accelerator programs and identify problem areas within supported clients
  • Provide one-on-one tracking and mentorship support for each business in the accelerator, ensuring adoption and execution of growth strategies
  • Identify, curate, and present a pipeline of business opportunities to senior management
  • Profile and engage potential partners for collaboration and business development
  • Using market intelligence, identify and develop the organisation’s unique selling propositions and differentiators
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen local ecosystems through partnerships, collaboration, and resource mobilisation

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning

  • Establish data collection methodologies (quantitative and qualitative) appropriate to each project context
  • Create detailed project M&E frameworks, logframes, and indicator tracking matrices
  • Assist in the collection, analysis, and reporting of program data and performance indicators to assess progress and outcomes
  • Prepare high-quality M&E reports, dashboards, and briefs for project management, donors, and stakeholders
  • Develop evaluation Terms of Reference (ToRs) and provide technical oversight to evaluation teams or consultants
  • Ensure all monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities adhere to best practices, donor requirements, and ethical standards
  • Work closely with the communications team, providing performance data for quarterly and annual reports
  • Contribute to a culture of learning and accountability across the organisation

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Project Management, Social Sciences, Monitoring and Evaluation, or a related field
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in project coordination, M&E, or program management, preferably in the development or social impact sector
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing M&E frameworks, data collection tools, and reporting systems
  • Experience working with business incubators, accelerators, or entrepreneurship programmes is an added advantage
  • Familiarity with donor reporting requirements (eg SlovakAid, EU, USAID, or similar) is an advantage
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt methods to complex implementation environments
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent report writing skills and knowledge of Project Logical Frameworks and OPPcrM
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent presentation and oral and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a can-do attitude and commitment to driving change
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and project management software such as Asana
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a remote or hybrid team
