Reporting to the General Manager (GM), the Human Resources Manager will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership of the Human Resources function by developing and implementing HR policies, systems, and practices that support business growth, operational efficiency, compliance, and employee engagement. The role ensures effective workforce planning, talent management, industrial relations, performance management, and statutory compliance within an agricultural environment.
Principal Accountabilities
- HR Leadership & Strategy Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives and agricultural operations.
- Recruitment, Workforce Planning & Onboarding Develop manpower plans aligned with production capacity, shifts, and operational requirements and oversee recruitment, selection, and placement of staff across farm operations and support functions.
- Performance Management & Productivity Design and implement performance management systems linked to KPIs and operational targets.
- Employee Relations & Industrial Relations Manage employee relations to promote a positive and productive work environment.
- Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Oversight Develop and administer competitive compensation and benefits structures aligned with market benchmarks and cost controls.
- Training, Learning & Development Develop and coordinate training programs focused on safety, productivity, leadership, and technical skills. Promote continuous learning, skills upgrading, and succession readiness.
- Health, Safety & Employee Welfare Oversee implementation of occupational health and safety policies in line with agricultural standards while coordinating workplace safety training, risk assessments, and compliance audits.
- HR Policies, Compliance & Documentation Develop, review, and enforce HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook.
- HR Systems, Analytics & Continuous Improvement Implement and manage HR information systems (HRIS) for data accuracy and efficiency while ensuring HR systems support business growth and operational efficiency.
The Person – Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional Certification
CHRP(K) certification or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years HR experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Industry Preference: Prior experience in an agricultural or floricultural environment is highly preferred.
- Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Kenyan labour laws and HR best practices.
