Head of Accounts & Finance

Job Description

The Head of Accounts and Finance will provide strategic leadership and oversight of all financial operations, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, strengthening financial controls, and supporting decision-making through accurate reporting and forecasting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Accounts & Finance Department
• Prepare and submit financial reports (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow, Payroll, Tax Returns, Annual Financial Statements)
• Oversee budgeting, monitoring, and variance analysis
• Ensure compliance with statutory obligations (PAYE, VAT, SHIF, NSSF)
• Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and investment strategies
• Provide financial insights to support executive decision-making
• Supervise payroll processing and statutory deductions
• Coordinate with auditors, regulators, and external stakeholders
• Mentor and develop finance staff

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master’s preferred)
• CPA or ACCA qualification
• Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in finance and accounting
• At least 3 years in a senior leadership/management role
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan statutory and tax regulations
• Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
