Job Summary
We are seeking to recruit a well-rounded, aggressive, and results-oriented person to join our food safety and production team. The job function is responsible for implementing food safety standards; conducting safety audits, training other employees, maintaining documentation, production planning and scheduling, setting departments KPI’s and making sure products meet quality standards and educating & Couching all employees.
The Purpose of the Role
- Supervising the food safety and production teams to ensure that processes needed for food safety management systems are established, implemented and maintained.
- Reporting to the food safety top management on the performance of the FSMS or any need for improvement.
- Ensure promotion of awareness of customer requirements about food safety throughout the organisation.
- Responsible for external and internal inspections/Audits
- Production oversight - Managing food manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with strict safety regulations, and meeting production targets.
- New Product Development (NPD) - Guiding products from concept, prototyping, and testing to industrialisation.
- Operational Efficiency - Utilising and maintaining equipment for optimised production.
- Leadership & Communication: Leading teams, managing workforce, and coordinating across departments.
Key Skills Required
- Food safety and regulatory compliance - Deep knowledge of HACCP, SQF, BRC, and local health regulations.
- Production planning and operations - Ability to schedule production, manage inventory, and optimise supply chain.
- Technical and troubleshooting skills - Proficiency with food processing equipment and rapid troubleshooting during operational downtime.
- Leadership and people management skills - Motivating staff, managing shift schedules, and fostering a safety-first culture.
- Quality Control (QC) skills - Maintaining high quality standards (recipe adherence) and conducting root cause analysis (RCA).
- Continuous Improvement - using any tool, Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Cost control - Managing labour, material, and production efficiency, as shown in this
- Data analysis - Monitoring production KPIs and analysing ingredient consumption.
- Communication - Effective communication across maintenance, QC, and sales teams.
- Adaptability - Quick thinking to handle raw materials, processing consumables shortages or machine breakdowns.
- Process Knowledge - Understanding different food production systems
Requirements
- BSC/Diploma in Food Sciences and Technology
- Qualification in BRC-GS; FSSC 22000 or any other high-level Food safety standards
- 5 or more years of experience in food safety system implementation and or production roles
- Experience in food processing/production
- Computer literate
- Leadership Training or skills
