Job Description

We at Steel Structures Limited are looking to hire Fitters.

Core Responsibilities for Fitters

• Interpret plans: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication plans to understand project requirements.
• Fabriate and assemble: Measure, mark, cut, drill, and fit structural steel components accurately. Assemble steel structures in a workshop and/or on-site.
• On-site installation: Assist with the erection and installation of steel frameworks on construction sites.
• Quality control: Perform pre-assembly and final checks to ensure alignment, levels, and tolerances are correct. Ensure the work complies with quality standards and safety regulations.
• Tool and equipment use: Operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery to complete tasks.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other tradespeople such as welders, crane operators, and site managers.
• Maintenance and dismantling: Some roles may involve dismantling structures for transport or maintenance.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Proficiency with various hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
• Strong spatial awareness and attention to detail.
• Physical strength and endurance for working at heights and with heavy materials.
• Knowledge of and adherence to safety regulations.
• Collaboration and communication skills to work effectively in a team.
• an Artisan Certificate (minimum KCPE or equivalent) to a Craft Certificate (minimum KCSE mean grade D- or equivalent), supplemented by a formal apprenticeship and trade tests. Higher qualifications like diplomas or degrees in Mechanical Engineering will be an added advantage.
